Buxom Bombshell Jane Russell Dies at 89

CNN reports the 1940s and '50s movie bombshell, whose name was synonymous with voluptuousness, died Monday morning at her home in Santa Maria, California, her family said. Jane Russell was 89.

Daughter-in-law Etta Waterfield said that Russell was a "pillar of health" but caught a bad cold and died of respiratory difficulties.

Russell's children, Thomas K. Waterfield, Tracy Foundas and Robert "Buck" Waterfield," were at her side, Etta Waterfield said.

Eccentric philanthropist and movie producer Howard Hughes was the first to put Jane Russell on the silver screen, signing her to a seven-year contract in 1940 and promptly putting her in his production of "The Outlaw," a film about a torrid romance between Billy the Kid and woman named Rio (Russell).

The film got only limited release -- in 1943 -- because censors at the time were skittish about the attention given Russell's figure. Hughes wasn't satisfied. He pulled the film from release and kept it out of circulation for six more years while he did more reshoots and re-editing.
And, Hughes kept Russell off the screen -- her only other appearance during those seven years was in "The Young Widow" (1946), shot while she was on loan to United Artists.

Hughes' extensive publicity campaign for "The Outlaw," however -- she has said that he had her making appearances five days a week for five years -- made Russell popular during World War II as a pin-up, and when the movie was finally released in 1946, she was a star.

While Hughes fetishized Russell's body in other films after her initial contract ended and the two negotiated another, the actress quietly made a name for herself as a talented actress capable of high drama or light comedy. She appeared as Calamity Jane with Bob Hope in "The Paleface" (1948) -- another loan-out -- and a sequel, "Son of Paleface," in 1952 -- earning an Oscar nomination for the song "Am I in Love?"

Robert Mitchum was her co-star twice -- in 1951's "His Kind of Woman" and 1952's "Macao." She shared the screen with Frank Sinatra and Groucho Marx in 1951's "Double Dynamite," and with Victor Mature, Vincent Price and Hoagy Carmichael in "The Las Vegas Story" (1952).

But it was 1953's "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" with Marilyn Monroe that shot Russell into the stratosphere. She was hailed for her singing and comedic acting, and just two years later made her last film for Hughes.

Russell had some success as a singer in the 1940s, appearing with the Kay Kayser Orchestra, and in 1954 she and Beryl Davis, Connie Haines and Della Russell (later replaced by Rhonda Fleming) began recording religious-themed music and touring as The Four Girls.

Christian couple in the UK barred from being foster parents because of their views on Homosexuality

It’s a sad thing in this post-modern world where cultural relativism is the rule, Christians are made to feel like they’re the outcasts.

The Daily Mail reports that a Christian couple morally opposed to homosexuality today lost a High Court battle over the right to become foster carers.

Eunice and Owen Johns, aged 62 and 65, from Oakwood, Derby, went to court after a social worker expressed concerns when they said they could not tell a child a 'homosexual lifestyle' was acceptable.

The Pentecostal Christian couple had applied to Derby City Council to be respite carers but withdrew their application believing it was 'doomed to failure' because of the social worker's attitude to their religious beliefs.

The couple deny that they are homophobic and said they would love any child they were given. However, what they were 'not willing to do was to tell a small child that the practice of homosexuality was a good thing'.

Today they asked judges to rule that their faith should not be a bar to them becoming carers, and the law should protect their Christian values.
But Lord Justice Munby and Mr Justice Beatson ruled that laws protecting people from discrimination because of their sexual orientation 'should take precedence' over the right not to be discriminated against on religious grounds.

The landmark case heard that the couple, who are now considering an appeal, argued their rights are being 'trumped' by those of homosexuals under equality legislation.


Outside the Royal Courts of Justice in London Mrs Johns stood alongside her husband as she said: 'We are extremely distressed at what the judges have ruled today.

'All we wanted was to offer a loving home to a child in need. We have a good track record as foster parents.

'But because we are Christians, with mainstream Christian views on sexual ethics, we are apparently unsuitable as foster parents.


'We are unsure how we can continue the application process following the court's ruling today.
'We have been excluded because we have moral opinions based on our faith and we feel sidelined because we are Christians with normal, mainstream, Christian views on sexual ethics.

'The judges have suggested that our views might harm children.

'We have been told by the Equality and Human Rights Commission that our moral views may "infect" a child

'We do not believe that this is so. We are prepared to love and accept any child. All we were not willing to do was to tell a small child that the practice of homosexuality was a good thing.

CHICAGO COPS say they've stumbled across two stone-cold killers who may be responsible for more than a dozen slayings in the Windy City. According to cops, two gunsels were nabbed while another was gunned down fleeing the scene of a double murder.
The slayings were part of bloody fake dope deals that turned into heists.
Cops killed Arturo Ibarra, 37, Saturday night after two people were found killed and a third seriously injured in a North Side apartment. A cop suffered a leg wound.

ACCORDING TO THE CHICAGO SUN TIMES: The suspect, Ibarra and the two men had been under surveillance for months, suspected of being part of a crew that had set up fake cocaine deals of $100,000 or more, according to a source. When the buyer or buyers showed up, they would be robbed and killed, sources said.

 The three, who worked for a home remodeling business, are suspected in at least 13 murders, including a quadruple slaying Sept. 2 in the 6100 block of South Kildare, said sources. Noel Casares, Alonso Villarreal, Roberto Rivera and Luis Santillian were found bound and shot in the head in a garage there. One source said they are suspected in the deaths of three men found inside a car last spring in the 2300 block of W. 36th Street.

CALI COPS NAME SUSPECT IN '78 COLD CASE SLAY

IT WAS supposed to be a celebration. Instead, it ended in murder. Now, nearly 33 years later, cops finally have a suspect in the vicious murder of Brent Stapleton Tobey.
On Nov. 20, 1978, Tobey was supposed to be celebrating the conviction of the man who murdered his friend. Tobey and another pal had discovered the body and at first, cops thought the cases were connected.
Now, tracking a DNA sample that had been submitted in 2002, Laguna Beach, California police have identified a suspect: Walter Dalie, now 52, serving a life sentence in Connecticut for murdering his girlfriend. Cops wouldn't comment about motive but ruled out any link to the murder of Tobey's pal.

Tobey was found stabbed several times in the head and upper body in his home at 1320 Carmelita St. by a friend. At the time, detectives had questioned his roommate and looked at any possible connection to the previous homicide. That road lead to Nowheresville. Dalie told Cali cops he knew Tobey at the time of the slaying.

Ted Kennedy 'rented out a Chilean brothel for the entire night, FBI files says

Ted Kennedy, one of the worst drunkards in the history of the U.S. who literally got away with murder at Chappaquiddick and benefited from the same state run media that continues to white wash the incompetent that sits in the White House, has another peccadillo that has come to light.

The Daily Mail reports that the late U.S. senator Ted Kennedy has been accused of renting an entire Chilean brothel and seeking meetings with communists who had left-wing views.

The information came to light after a Freedom of Information request by Judicial Watch - the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption - who put pressure on the FBI to release the material.

Their file on the late senator, who died from brain cancer in August 2009, was released but contained a large amount of blacked out information - until now.

The statements previously withheld include accusations that during a tour of several Latin American countries he 'made arrangements to "rent" a brothel for an entire night, allegedly inviting one of the Embassy's chauffeurs to participate in the night's activities'.

In each country he visited he was also said to have 'insisted on interviewing "the angry young men" of the country as well as Communists who had extreme left-wing views'.

When he was in Mexico, it is said that his request to have certain left-wingers - one of whom was later linked with a Soviet spy ring - was refused as he was warned not to associate himself with such people.

EL CONDOR, one of Mexico's top drug kingpins has been killed in a running gun battle with cops, authorities said.  
Luis Humberto Peralta Hernandez, 44 was believed to a top figure in the Juarez drug cartel who's deadly rivalry with the Sinaloa cartel has led to thousands of death in the Northern part of the country.
He had been accused of involvement in nearly 100 murders, was carrying false ID, which delayed identification of the body.

Three people alleged to be accomplices were arrested and have been taken to the capital, Mexico City, for questioning.
There have been more than 34,000 drug-related killings in the country since 2006, when President Philipe Calderon launched a huge crackdown against the drug cartels.
The Juarez cartel is behind many of the recent gruesome executions and decapitations in Ciudad Juarez.
There were more than 3,000 murders in 2010, making it Mexico's deadliest city by far.

The activities of the Juarez cartel, also known as the Carrillo Fuentes Organisation, are said by prosecutors to extend to controlling many of the drug smuggling routes from Mexico into the US.

BARBIE bandit Ashley Nicole Miller is back behind bars for violating her probation.
Together with Heather Lyn Johnson, she gained national attention when they were seen laughing on surveillance video as they robbed nearly $11,000 from a bank teller, who was later shown to be part of the scheme.

The pair blew their cash on an enormous shopping spree, before being caught and convicted.
Miller who was sentenced to two years behind bars and eight year probation has now violated that after being arrested on a battery charge.   The incident happened outside Club Bella, a popular nightclub in Gwinnett County, MO.  

SICKOS PAID TO TORTURE DISABLED SEX SLAVE

PROSECUTORS have described the case as "one of the most horrific" ever to be seen in Western Missouri - men paying to torture a mentally ill young woman who was being kept as a sex slave.
James Noel, 45, this week admitted he paid money to shock the 25-year-old with an electrical device, even though she complained that it was painful. 
The 45-year-old pleaded guilty Monday in U.S. District Court in Kansas City to one count of conspiracy to commit sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion.
As part of the plea, Noel agreed to cooperate with the government and testify in court against four other men facing federal charges in the case. 
The alleged "mastermind" of the operation, Edward "Master Ed" Bagley, is accused of branding, torturing and sexually abusing the mentally disabled woman over a period of five years at a Lebanon, MO, trailer home.
The indictment against him alleges that he met the woman when she was a 16-year-old runaway and persuaded her to move into his trailer with promises of a "great life" and a future as a model and dancer.
Instead he began giving her drugs, showing her pornography and sexually abusing her.
Then when she turned 18, he persuaded her to sign a 'sex slave contract," which he said bound her to him for life.
He then "beat, whipped, flogged, suffocated, choked, electrocuted, caned, skewered, drowned, mutilated, hung and caged" the girl "to coerce her to become a 'sex slave,'" the indictment says.
He also tied her up and hung her in the air, locked her in a dog cage and used staples, nails and a sewing needle and thread during torture sessions.
Six-years ago he began to boast online that the girl was his slave and could be tortured during online sessions or in person.
So Noel gave Bagley cash, cigarettes, computer equipment, sadomasochism videos, coats and meat in exchange for access to the girl, the indictment says.
If she cried out or tried to stop the torture, it only got worse, prosecutors said. Bagley threatened her by claiming to have buried other bodies behind his trailer home and shooting animals that she cared for in front of her, prosecutors said.
Charges are also pending against Dennis Henry, 50 and Michael Stokes, 62 according to St. Louis Today.
As part of the plea, Noel agreed to cooperate with the government and testify in court.
Noel admitted that he shocked the woman using an electrical device, even though she had complained that it was painful.
Noel's attorney and federal prosecutors declined to comment after the hearing.

Already facing charges of domestic assault against her daughter's Leah's father Gary Shirley, the 17-year-old who hit the headlines by appearing on the MTV show now fears social services could get involved because of the pictures seen here on Radar Online.
They show the young mother, who has a hideous tattoo of her baby on her midriff, in a variety of nude poses.
According to the Daily Mail, said in a statement that the pictures were "stolen" by "someone I trusted."
She said: "It makes me sad that anyone would do this, and I'm horrified that something so private is being shared publicly."
It's just another drama for the pugnacious teen mother, who maintains her
innocence against the assault charges which aired on her MTV show even though the footage appears to show otherwise.
She is facing up to three years in jail and a $10,000 fine if convicted.

TWO CHILDREN missing for nearly 50 years. The kind of case that haunts detectives til they die. But for one cop, a resolution may be near.

Last Wednesday, workers found bones beneath a demolished house in Onslow County, North Carolina. The house had been owned by a convicted child molester named Henry Hunt, who died in 1991. He was 85.
Former Sheriff Ed Brown hopes the bones are those of Diana Moon Yoli, 7, and her brother Mark Eugene Yoli, 3. They have been missing since Sept. 13, 1962.
According to ENC TODAY: On her deathbed in 1992, Hunt’s wife told her daughter that Hunt had picked up the two children in Midway Park and later dumped their bodies in a mine near Maysville.

“I’ve read about miracles in the Bible, I believe in miracles, and I believe it would take a miracle to ever find the remains of these children,” Brown said at the time.

Detectives believed the two tragic children would remain where there killer buried them.

ENC TODAY REPORTS: In 1962, Brown, a high school student, was fond of a girl who lived on Pony Farm Road. The girl’s neighborhood, like many others, had one yard you didn’t go in and one man you didn’t talk to — in this case it was Hunt. When the Yoli children went missing in September 1962, search efforts centered on the Midway Park housing area and the surrounding swamp. Although base housing was 13 miles from Hunt’s Pony Farm Road house, Brown always wondered whether the man was involved.

The old detective remembered a German Shepherd  trying to dig beneath Hunt’s home but without probable cause, Brown couldn’t search Hunt’s home.

With Hunt’s wife’s 1992 deathbed revelation, Brown learned what the pedophile had told her years earlier. The sex monster said he picked up the Yoli children and took them fishing. He said the boy accidentally drowned and he killed the girl in a panic.

Brown said he didn’t believe the drowning story at all.

“This man had no business with these children at all,” he said. “It was clearly an abduction and murder.”

About 10 years ago, Brown began to keep track of who owned Hunt’s old house.

“The house became the haunt for me,” Brown said. “I wanted to know. I feel it has been resolved for me either way. I have thought about this a long time, but wasn’t sure we’d ever know for sure if the children were here or not.”

room while he and Mary Ramirez slept. They would unchain the boy in the morning and allow him to go to school.

ACCORDING TO THE CHICAGO SUN TIMES, the boy also told cops he father stabbed him with a knife. School officials ratted super dad out.
The teenager now has a large laceration to his left elbow, bruising on a large portion of both arms and lash marks on his lower and middle back and lower legs, prosecutors said.

State-run media greatly exaggerating turnout for 50-state Union Protest, falls way short of expectations

Don’t fall for the glowing reports of a massive turnout of union protestors all over the country by the main stream Obama boot licking media. Unions workers represent less than 6% of the population. They are hugely outnumbered by the majority of the taxpaying public that pays their salaries.

It’s not even close!

But, the media will paint a far different picture because it’s their president they’re propping up.

The president, unions, and the media is the new Axis of Evil as far as the American peoples pocketbook is concerned.

Legal-insurrection reports that protests in support of Wisconsin public sector unions were organized by MoveOn.org and labor unions today.Promoters, such as David Dayen at Firedoglake, were predicting a million-person turnout nationwide.

But reports as of 7:00 E.S.T. today make clear that other than in Madison, Wisconsin, the crowds were sparse.The turnout in Madison was sizable, with estimates ranging over from 50-70,000, which included protesters bused in from other states. (Dayen is trying to pump the crowd estimate to over 100,000.)

But elsewhere, the crowds numbered only in the hundreds or low thousands.In Washington, D.C., only about 500 people showed up (go to link for good photos of crazy signs). (Note, WaPo says 1000.)In Columbus, OH, where you would expect a big crowd given a similar controversy, only "several thousand" people protested. Other head counts, based on news reports, include: Boston (1000), Portsmouth, N.H. (few hundred), Augusta, ME (small crowd), New York City ("several thousand"), Chicago (1000), Miami (100), Austin (several hundred), Chicago (1000); Lansing, MI (2000), Nashville (hundreds), Los Angeles (2000), Richmond, VA (300), Denver (1000); Frankfurt, KY (several hundred), Jefferson City, MO (several hundred), Harrisburg, PA (several hundred). While I don't have a complete count, based on these numbers from some major cities and labor states, total protesters nationwide (excluding Madison) likely totaled under 100,000 combined.

The 50-state protest was a failure, plain and simple, although the images from Madison may create the false impression of massive nationwide protests.

That’s what happens when the AFL-CIO raises millions for Obama’s run for president and Obama returns the favor by giving the union millions of dollars back in Stimulus money. The president is a shill for the unions and the rest of the taxpaying public pays for this mutual masturbation sessions.

The Hill reports that AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka gave his blessing Sunday to President Obama's handling of the labor standoff in Wisconsin. Amid some criticism on the left that Obama could do more to boost unions in their demonstrations against Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, and his proposal to eliminate most collective bargaining rights for public workers, Trumka said the president was doing just fine. "I think he's doing it the right way," Trumka said on NBC's "Meet the Press." A growing number of Democrats have pressed Obama to take more of a leading role in the labor dispute. Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.), a co-chairman of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, last week called for Obama to head to Wisconsin.

I consider myself a film buff and I have to say that the quality of movies coming out of Hollywood since 2005 have been a joke. It’s been a never ending succession of films about comic book heroes and sequel after sequel.

What ever happened to films based on great novels or just an original screenplay for a change?

Just last week I looked up 8 flicks at my local multiplex and couldn’t find near one movie I had the least bit interest in seeing. That’s how bad the garbage is that Hollywood id putting out.

I remember come Oscar time, most of the 5 movies nominated were really great films. Today, you’ll lucky to find one in a field of ten.

It’s a sad commentary on an industry that has sunken to its lowest depths.

Be ashamed, Hollywood, be very ashamed!

CHILD KILLER TELLS JUDGE: "I DESERVE TO DIE"

THE  man who raped and killed a seven-year-old Arizona girl has told a judge: "I deserve to die." Loretto "Kyle" Alegria, 21, beat and stabbed Rhia Almeida who was at his house for a play-date with Alegria's little brother back in June 2009.
Offered a plea agreement he told the judge "I don't deserve to live. I deserve the max."
Pima County Superior Court Judge Deborah Bernini tried to reason with him asking, "Don't you think life in prison is punishment enough?"
Alegria shook his head no, according to The Arizona Daily Star.
Judge Deborah Bernini pleaded with the killer to sign a plea agreement, agreeing to life imprisonment for the heinous killing, telling him that he was making it worse not only for Almeida's family, but also his own family, which includes his 10-year-old brother, by going through a lengthy trial.
Alegria still didn't budge, insisting he was still not going to sign the agreement, which will force a six week court case in April.
"I deserve the max," he said.

VOODOO sex ceremony candles caused a fire that swept through a New York apartment block killing a women. 
Fire marshals said a woman paid $300 a man known in Brooklyn as a voodoo priest to bring her good luck.
He performed a ceremony which involved the man and woman having sex in a bed surrounded by candles. 
Those candles set fire to the linens and clothes on the floor, a Fire Department of New York spokesman said. 
But instead of calling 911, the man conducting the ceremony tried in vain to douse the flames with water.

Another person then opened the front door to try and let the smoke out but instead an  FDNY statement said it: "shot the flames back inside, creating a blowtorch effect as winds whipped in through the open window and pushed fire out into the hallway." 
When the people in the apartment ran out, they left the door open, fire officials said. Flames quickly spread to the fourth, fifth and sixth floors, causing part of the roof and fourth floor to collapse, the FDNY said.
Mary Feagin, 64, who lived on the sixth floor, died in the fire, and at least 20 firefighters and three other people were hurt, the FDNY said.
Nearly 200 firefighters from 44 companies spent almost seven hours bringing the fire under control, the fire department said.

A DISGUSTING pedophile viciously raped a toddler at Sea World and took pictures of the attack on his cellphone, Cops say.
The child's distraught mother said she left the child at the Orlando theme park with with Michael Grzybowicz for about 10-minutes while she and her boyfriend went on a ride.
But rather than look after the tot he viciously raped her.
Pictures of the alleged rape were found on Grzybowicz’ phone and sent to his e-mail account, the sheriff's office said.
Records state that four photographs in the phone's memory chip showed the violation of the youngster wearing a diaper and a yellow sun dress while she rode in a dark blue stroller.
Grzybowicz told investigators that he didn't know how the photos got onto his cell phone, according to The Orlando Sentinel.

Sea World said in a statement: "Nothing is more important than the safety and welfare of our guests, and our team members are trained to report any kind of suspicious behavior. Illegal behavior of any type is not tolerated at our parks. Our thoughts are with the family at this very difficult time." A warrant indicates Grzybowicz faces charges of sexual battery and lascivious molestation on a child younger than 12.

The mother of three will now have to register as a sex offender for the rest of her life because of her plea of no contest to one count of unlawful sex with a minor and three counts of lewd acts with a child.
Prosecutors dropped 63 other felony sex counts and several misdemeanor counts in exchange for her plea and she will be sentenced on March 25.

Raise taxes, according to AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka. Specifically, he wants to raise the federal gas tax as a means to fund infrastructure spending. "We need a dedicated source of revenue to create infrastructure in this country," he tells Aaron Task in the accompanying clip.

"We need to create jobs. The best way to do that is through infrastructure development." Simply maintaining the existing infrastructure in this country will cost $2.2 trillion over five years, according to the American Society of Civil Engineers. That doesn't include Obama's objective of high-speed rails and green energy projects.

Trumka didn't say specifically how much he would raise the gas tax, but mentioned he's shown the President a $256 billion plan to improve infrastructure. If every billion spent on infrastructure creates 35,000 jobs, as he claims, this package would create close to 9 million jobs over the next five years.

CBS News reports that Girl Scouts all over the US have started selling cookies door-to-door, outside of grocery stores and on street corners - little did they know they could possibly be cited for peddling.

According to a troop leader, a group of Georgia Girl Scouts thought they were headed to jail when a police officer asked them for their peddler's permit to sell cookies outside of their local strip mall in Villa Rica, 30 miles outside of Atlanta, on Wednesday.

When they weren't able to show a permit, the officer told them to pack it up. Troop leader Kathy Crook told local station WXIA-TV in Atlanta that she was stunned.

MLB loaned cash strapped New York Mets $20 million

Mets fans, like me, don’t care much about Fred Wilpon’s financial problems.

So, if the Mets can’t be run like a big market New York team should, it’s time for the Wilpons to sell the team and ride off into the sunset

The New York Post reports that Major League Baseball loaned the Mets more than $20 million in November in a bid to shore up the cash-strapped team, sources told The Post.

"We did receive a loan from Major League Baseball in November," the Mets said in a statement. "Beyond that, we will not discuss the matter any further."

The team’s principal owner, Fred Wilpon, and his partners are scrambling to line up an investor to purchase as much as 25 percent of the team in the wake of a lawsuit brought by the bankruptcy trustee charged with clawing back billions for victims of Bernie Madoff.

The trustee, Irving Picard, has sued the team for as much as $1 billion, alleging Wilpon and his partners knew — or should have known — about Madoff’s massive Ponzi scheme.

Fred Wilpon and his son Jeff have insisted they will maintain majority ownership of the Mets despite the suit, although a financial adviser to the team recently said they would consider selling a bigger stake.

The November loan from the MLB suggests the team was experiencing a cash crunch before Picard’s suit against them became public
