Final Harrier Jets leaves British ships

To my British readers, as an American I always thought the Harriers were the coolest jets and I always wanted our country to have an American version.

These budget cuts are a tough thing if these wonderful flyers are lost in the process.

The Sun reports that Britain waved farewell to the "world-beating" Harrier yesterday as the much-prized Jump Jets launched from HMS Ark Royal for their final journey.

The Sun joined the aircraft carrier's crew of 680 to watch as the fixed-wing fighters flew off over the North Sea one by one and into history.

The Harriers, widely seen as integral to winning the Falklands War, were bound for RAF Cottesmore in Rutland for decommissioning.
With no jets to launch, 22,000-ton HMS Ark Royal will also be scrapped before Christmas.

It means Britain cannot now launch fast jet attacks from sea until 2020 when the new class of carriers enters service.

Before take-off yesterday, pilot Lieutenant Commander James Blackmore, 35, told The Sun: "This is a sad day for all of us.

"It was a shock when we found out the Harriers were to go. It's a superb aircraft to fly."

Click Orlando News reports that the head of the Transportation Security Administration said the agency will look further into allegations that two male TSA workers picked a woman for additional screening because of her breasts.

Eliana Sutherland recently flew from Orlando International Airport and told Local 6 she felt the two male TSA workers were staring at her breasts and chose her for additional screening because of their size.

"It was pretty obvious. One of the guys that was staring me up and down was the one who pulled me over," said Sutherland. "Not a comfortable feeling."

Experiences like Sutherland's have been reported across the country, leaving many people to join a group planning to boycott the TSA's new full body scan in an effort to clog security lines on the day before Thanksgiving. Whether it's pat-downs or full-body scans, the changes are making some people question who gets chosen and why.

Former Obama Advisor, Aide To NJ Dem, Arrested On Child Sex Charges

TPM reports Robert Decheine, chief of staff to Rep. Steve Rothman (D-NJ), was arrested in Gaithersburg, Md. last Friday on charges of soliciting sex from a minor. Decheine, who had been with the Democrat's office since 2003, was fired immediately after the congressman consulted the House Counsel about his arrest, Rothman spokesman Aaron Keyak told The Hill in a statement.

Decheine was arrested as part of a sting targeting people interested in sex with minors -- the first one ever launched by the Gaithersburg Police Department, according to a press release provided to TPM. Eleven arrests were made during the operation, which came in phases. First, ads were placed online and an undercover officer began communicating with each "John."

Naked man spotted in car boot (aka trunk) on Google Street View

Okay, I give up. What was ths guy doing naked in the trunk?

The UK Telegraph reports that a man has been captured on Google Street View apparently climbing into the boot of his car while naked.

The baffling picture shows a nude man in the boot of a Mercedes which is parked on the driveway of a house in Mannheim, south-west Germany.

A dog lies nearby surrounded by the contents of the sports car's boot.
The image has prompted a rash of internet speculation over what activity the man could be involved in.

One Internet user told the CNET website he thought it was just ''an illusion'' with the man wearing tight skin-coloured shorts while fixing his brake light.

However Google has removed the image from Street View, which only went live in Germany at the beginning of the month.

This is a nice 1988 comedy starring Richard Dreyfuss, Raul Julia and Sonia Braga, directed by Paul Mazursky.

I especially enjoy Raul Julia as Roberto Strussman. He was a fine actor from Puerto Rico who died way too young at 54.

This clip explains the plot.
