Marie Osmond May Need to Check into Mental Hospital

There are few things in life worse than losing a child.

It doesn’t even matter if an adult child is lost, the pain is still unbearable. Marie Osmond’s life has been turned upside down and she is still hurting.

Grief-stricken MARIE OSMOND, still in deep depression over son's suicide, may now be headed for a psych ward.

Her family is so concerned that the beloved singer is not coming out of her deep depression following her son Michael's suicide that they are considering the ultimate intervention - placing her in a mental facility.

The fragile 50-year-old entertainer is still shattered by the young man's death in February - and some nights her brother Donny, 52, has to plead with the grief-stricken star to go onstage.

Distraught family members fear that a temporary stay in a mental institution could be the only chance of keeping her alive, say sources."Every performance takes another bite out of her emotional health," says a source close to Marie.

Marie Osmond Put on Suicide Watch

"My baby's gone. How can I go on?

That was Marie Osmond's heartbroken cry after learning her tormented 18-year-old son Michael had committed suicide - and now worried family members have put the devastated star on a suicide watch.

Family friends have told The ENQUIRER that despite his devoted mom's efforts to help, Michael's lifelong battle with depression and issues with his sexuality drove him to jump to his death from the eighth floor of his apartment building in downtown Los Angeles on Feb. 26.

"I think Michael was distraught because he was conflicted over his sexuality and didn't believe he could ever come out as a gay man to his religious Mormon family," said a family insider.
