"CLARK ROCKEFELLER" MURDER TRIAL OPENS

WHO ARE YOU?
A CRAZY German immigrant who posed as a member of the world famous Rockefeller family has appeared in court for the first time
Christian Karl Gerhartsreiter, who over the years has had numerous identities including "Clark Rockefeller" is accused of murdering his landlord more than 25-years ago.
Cops say he was renting Jonathan Sohus and his wife Linda's guesthouse in Los Angeles' wealthy San Marino enclave when he murdered them.
At the time Detectives say he was posing as wealthy English aristocrat Christopher Chichester, who had quickly ingratiated himself into the well to do community, before vanishing shortly after their disappearance.
Cops started investigating in 1994 after skeletal remains, believed to be those of Jonathan were found when the new owners were excavating for a swimming pool.
His wife is still missing.

Gerhartsreiter meanwhile, continued to change his identity, morphing into a physicist, art collector, ship captain and financial adviser who renegotiated debt for small countries.
Gerhartsreiter was already serving a prison term in Massachusetts following the 2009 conviction in the kidnapping of his 7-year-old daughter in an elaborate scheme in which he hired two people to drive them to New York, when these fresh charges were brought.
Outside court, Gerhartsreiter's Boston lawyer, Jeffrey Denner, acknowledged it was unusual to have charges brought after such a long time, but said "old case, new case, he didn't do it."
He added that it could be a significant amount of time before the case comes to trial, but the defense would immediately be receiving 9,000 pages of discovery material from the prosecution.

DID CASEY ANTHONY STEAL DEFENSE FROM CELLMATE?

WHELAN
CASEY Anthony may have made up her defense that her tragic daughter Caylee drowned in a swimming pool after hearing a fellow inmate talking about her own child's tragic death, the court heard.
April Whelan may yet play an 11th role in the murder case, after it emerged that she was in the prison cell adjacent to the one time party mom and her case bears striking similarities to Anthony's claims.
Whelan's 15-month-old son Isiah tragically drowned in their home swimming pool on Christmas Day 2007, where he had been left unattended by adults according to Orange County cops.
His tiny body was found by his grandfather.   The scenario is almost exactly the same as her defense team's opening statements, that Casey Anthony's father George found two-year-old Caylee's body in the family pool and got Casey to participate in a cover-up of the accidental death.
Orange County Jail spokesman Allen Moore told The Orlando Sentinel that Whelan, 30, spent five days in a cell in the same dormitory as Anthony in June 2009.
He said there was no evidence of contact between the women but noted that cells are by no means soundproof and that "it's possible that things can be been heard."
Whelan's phone records have now been requested by the Orange County Sheriff's Office to form part of the investigation.

CASEY ANTHONY TRIAL CLAIM: CAYLEE DROWNED IN POOL

PARTY-mom Casey Anthony's lawyers opened their case with the bombshell claim that her daughter Caylee drowned in a swimming pool and her grandfather covered it up.
Her attorney, Jose Baez claimed Caylee's grandmother Cindy forgot to pull up a ladder that prevented the toddler from climbing into the pool on her own and the toddler slipped in when no one was looking. The distraught family panicked and didn't call police, he said.

He added: "That's what she's guilty of, she's not guilty of murder. This is not a murder case."
Prosecutors were quick to dismiss the claims putting forward their own theory that the toddler died from three pieces of duct tape being placed over her mouth and nose.
They also described Internet searches done on a computer at Casey's home that showed queries for chloroform, neck-breaking and alcohol.
Prosecutors said everything Casey Anthony did was based on a web of lies and that the evidence points to her as the killer.
Linda Drane Burdick said: "Casey Anthony ... appeared to be ... a loving mother, trying to provide support for her daughter. But as the evidence in this case will show, that was an illusion."
Anthony who faces the death penalty if convicted denies murder.
The trial continues.
