Padres Slugger Adrian Gonzalez Would Skip 2011 ASG to Protest of Arizona law

From SanDiego Padres.com:

Adrian Gonzalez, a two-time All-Star, said he will boycott next year's All-Star Game, scheduled to be played in Phoenix, if the controversial Arizona immigration law is in effect.

"I'll support the players association 100 percent," the Padres first baseman told AOL Fanhouse on Saturday. "If they leave it up to the players and the law is still there, I'll probably not play in the All-Star Game. Because it's a discriminating law."

Gonzalez, who made the National League All-Star team in each of the past two seasons, was born in San Diego but grew up in both a San Diego suburb and Tijuana. He said that he'd like Major League Baseball to boycott Spring Training. Fifteen of MLB's 30 clubs have Spring Training facilities in Arizona.

"I know it can't be done, but they should take Spring Training out of [Arizona] if it's possible," Gonzalez said.

First of all Adrian, you have to be voted in the game first before you can boycott it. And coming out publicaly saying that you’ll boycott the game may cause many baseball fans to intentionally not vote for you.

Padres fans don’t care a hoot how you feel about Arizona’s new immigration law. All they care to see from you is hit home runs and help your team win.

That’s it!

If you want to boycott anything, quit the game that's paying you very nicely, run for political office that pays a lot less, and make all the speeches, protests, and boycotts to your hearts content.

Otherwise shut up, hit the ball, catch the ball, and throw the ball!

Your’re a baseball player, my friend, not the second coming of Simón Bolívar!

CBS Poll: Majority Backs Arizona Immigration Bill

Well what do you know?

Despite all squealing and demagoguery coming from Liberal pundits, misguided Americans, and a community organizer masquerading as president, a majority of the American people support Arizona’s new immigration law.

From CBS News:

Despite their expectation that it will burden police departments and disproportionately affect certain ethnic groups, a slim majority of Americans believe the controversial illegal immigration measure recently signed into law in Arizona is "about right" in its approach, according to a newly-released CBS News/New York Times poll.

Fifty-one percent of those surveyed say the law, which critics say essentially mandates racial profiling, takes the right approach, and nine percent say it should go even further.

Thirty-six percent say the law goes too far.

Two in three Republicans say the law takes the right approach, along with roughly half of independents.
Among Democrats, support for the law stands at 38 percent. Americans living in the South and Midwest are more likely than those in the East or West to support the measure.

One in two Americans say it is "very likely" that the law "will lead to police officers detaining people of certain racial or ethnic groups more frequently than other racial or ethnic groups." Another 32 percent say that prospect is "somewhat likely." Just 15 percent do not expect some racial or ethnic groups to be affected more than others.

Roughly 70 percent say it is at least somewhat likely that the measure will both reduce the number of illegal residents and new illegal immigration into the country, including 29 percent who say it is "very likely" that will happen. A slim majority say it is at least somewhat likely the measure will reduce crime.

Bomb Suspect Faisal Shahzad Busted at JFK to Flee U.S.

From The New York Post:

A Connecticut man who recently spent several months in his native Pakistan was arrested at Kennedy Airport early this morning in connection with the attempted Times Square car bombing, law-enforcement sources told The Post.

Faisal Shahzad, 30, was trying to flee the United States and was headed for Dubai when he was apprehended by federal customs agents, the sources said.

Shahzad last week purchased the 1993 Nissan Pathfinder used in the would-be attack, the sources said, noting that an e-mail sent from his account had been used to contact the seller.

Feds Have Person of Interest in Times Square Bomb Plot Reveals Pakistan Connection

From The new York Post:

Federal authorities have identified a person of interest in the investigation into New York's Times Square bomb plot, described as a naturalized American citizen who recently returned from Pakistan, Fox News confirmed today.

Associated Press, quoting two law enforcement officials, reported that he is the man who purchased the SUV involved in the attempted bombing.

The person is a naturalized American citizen who was in Pakistan for several months and returned to the United States recently, investigative sources told Fox News, though the person's identity has not been made public. ABCNews.com reported that he is originally from Pakistan.

The news came as a FBI-led task force took over the case as it became more likely that there were connections to overseas terrorism, according to the Washington Post.
The NYPD was leading the investigation before the Joint Terrorism Task Force stepped in.

Forensic evidence turned up in the Nissan Pathfinder that was found Saturday in Times Square pointed in that direction, sources told The Post. For instance, one of the bomb clocks was foreign-made.

Also, Rep. Peter King of Long Island, ranking Republican on the House Homeland Security Committee, said the investigation has turned up some evidence of foreign involvement in the failed bombing attempt.

“It very well could be a group in this country that is connected to al Qaeda,” King told The Post.
“As the investigation is going on today … they may be coming up with something which indicates an overseas connection. I think it is something they are finding in the U.S. that could indicate some connection to overseas,” he said.

The Washington Post earlier today reported that the botched car bombing appears to have been coordinated by several individuals with foreign ties.
"Don't be surprised if you find a foreign nexus ...

They're looking at some tell-tale signs and they're saying it's pointing in that direction," a senior White House official told the Washington Post this afternoon.

But these sources told the Washington Post that this doesn't mean al-Qaeda or another terrorist group is involved.

A Pakistani-based Taliban group claimed credit for the attack in an Internet video on Sunday, but Police Commissioner Ray Kelly has said that police had no evidence to support that claim.

The possible link to foreign terrorism came during a day of rapid developments in the investigation.

Mexico's Illegals Laws Tougher Than Arizona's

Maybe Liberals should send hundreds of ACORN members over the border to protest their immagarations laws?

From The Washington Times:

Mexican President Felipe Calderon denounced as "racial discrimination" an Arizona law giving state and local police the authority to arrest suspected illegal immigrants and vowed to use all means at his disposal to defend Mexican nationals against a law he called a "violation of human rights."

But the legislation, signed April 23 by Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer, is similar to Reglamento de la Ley General de Poblacion — the General Law on Population enacted in Mexico in April 2000, which mandates that federal, local and municipal police cooperate with federal immigration authorities in that country in the arrests of illegal immigrants.

Under the Mexican law, illegal immigration is a felony, punishable by up to two years in prison.

Immigrants who are deported and attempt to re-enter can be imprisoned for 10 years.

Visa violators can be sentenced to six-year terms. Mexicans who help illegal immigrants are considered criminals.

The law also says Mexico can deport foreigners who are deemed detrimental to "economic or national interests," violate Mexican law, are not "physically or mentally healthy" or lack the "necessary funds for their sustenance" and for their dependents.

"This sounds like the kind of law that a rational nation would have to protect itself against illegal immigrants — that would stop and punish the very people who are violating the law," said Rep. Steve King of Iowa, ranking Republican on the House Judiciary subcommittee on immigration, citizenship, refugees, border security and international law.
"Why would Mr. Calderon have any objections to an Arizona law that is less draconian than his own, one he has pledged to enforce?" Mr. King said.

Sen. Jon Kyl of Arizona, the ranking Republican on the Senate Judiciary subcommittee on terrorism and homeland security, described Mr. Calderon's comments as "hypocritical to say the least."

"I would have expected more from Mr. Calderon," said Mr. Kyl, who serves as the Senate minority whip. "We are spending millions of dollars to help Mexico fight the drug cartels that pose a threat to his government, and he doesn't seem to recognize our concerns. He ought to be apologizing to us instead of condemning us."

Foreign News Media Questioning News Blackout on Alleged Cheating Scandal between President Obama and Vera Baker

Hmm, I’ve seen this kind of blackout before with the John Edwards cheating story. The only thing you heard after the National Enquirer broke that story was crickets.

Can I give you my own theory why the MSM was quite on the Edwards story?

If you remember, Obama and Hillary Clinton were locked in a very close contest for the Democratic nomination for president. If the MSM reported the John Edward’s cheating with Rielle Hunter as soon as TNE reported it, Edwards supporters might have gone to Clinton and have been enough to give Hillary the nod.

But, MSM love Obama so they sat on the story.

Well, the MSM still love now President Obama all the more.

Now, I don’t know if this new story reported by TNE is true or not. But, the blackout is very familiar.

From UK Today:

UK Today News: Fox News and other News Channels Won’t Air Obama Cheating Scandal

Obama Cheating Scandal: Anti Obama Conservatives are on their heels from the moment the National Enquirer revealed an alleged affair of US President Barack Obama with an African American lady named Vera Baker.

The National Enquirer supposedly says that Obama is cheating on Michelle Obama, and that he did have a relationship with a woman named Vera Baker, who was an important part during his political campaign.
The National Enquirer states that they have strong and shocking evidence against Obama and Vera in the form of a security video tape.

None of the major media giants are publishing this news or the fact that this story exists. Fox News and other news agencies are reportedly ignoring such issues and choose to focus on more important and less controversial issues instead of this Obama affair.

From Providing News.com:

Owner of S.U.V. Holding Time Square Bomb Is Located

The NYPD, the best police force in the world is on the case! I just hope the Feds don’t try and muscle their way into the investigation too much to show that the Obama administration really cares about Terrorism.

Are we allowed to use the word “terrorism” anymore?

From The New York Times:

The police and F.B.I. investigators have tracked down the owner of the 1993 Nissan Pathfinder that contained the makings of a crude car bomb discovered in Times Square over the weekend, but that person is not considered a suspect, the police said on Monday.

“We’ve identified and spoken to the registered owner,” said Paul J. Browne, the Police Department’s chief spokesman, who stressed that the police had not yet identified a suspect or a motive. Nonetheless, the resolution of the vehicle’s provenance is a significant advancement in the 38-hour-old investigation.

Investigators continue to review surveillance footage from Saturday evening, when the car bomb was found, that showed a white man who appeared to be in his 40s walking away from the area as he looked over his shoulder and removed a layer of clothing.

Attorney General
Eric H. Holder Jr. seemed optimistic in comments he made Monday morning. “I think that we have made really substantial progress, Mr. Holder told reporters in Washington. “We have some good leads."

Raymond W. Kelly, the New York City police commissioner, said on Sunday that officers found gasoline, propane, firecrackers and simple alarm clocks in the Nissan sport utility vehicle, as well as eight bags of a granular substance, later determined to be nonexplosive grade of fertilizer, inside a 55-inch-tall metal gun locker.

The bomb, Mr. Kelly said, “would have caused casualties, a significant fireball.”

The materials will be sent to the F.B.I. laboratory in Quantico, Va., on Monday for analysis, Mr. Kelly said in an interview Monday morning with WCBS Radio. “They’ve got the top laboratory in the world to do these sorts of examinations, and we’ll keep some samples here,” he said.

Detectives flew by helicopter to Pennsylvania to interview a tourist who shot video that they believe show the same man who changed his clothing leaving the area near the S.U.V. “We have seen the video and we’re looking to put that out,” Mr. Kelly said. Asked if the video was important to the investigation, he said, “It depends on what other people see in that video. Not so much what we see.”

Speaking on the “Today” show, Mayor
Michael R. Bloomberg cautioned that “the person on the tape may not become a suspect.”

“There are millions of people that come through Times Square,” the mayor said. “This person happened to be in a position which a camera got a good shot of him, and maybe he had something to do with it, but there’s a very good chance that he did not. We’re exploring a lot of leads.”

Had the bomb exploded, said Mr. Browne, there was “a good possibility of people being killed, windows shattered, but not resulting in a building collapse.”
While the authorities said they were treating the failed bombing — described as a “one-off” by
Janet Napolitano, the homeland security secretary — as a potential terrorist attack, they said there was no evidence of a continued threat to the city.

Additional patrols will be placed in Midtown, Mr. Kelly said, but no significant increase in the city’s police presence is planned. Detectives conducted what is known as a “24-hour canvas” on Sunday night and Monday morning, but Mr. Kelly did not divulge any new leads Monday morning. The police also planned to visit nearby businesses that were closed over the weekend to review footage from their cameras.

No motive had been determined in the attempted bombing, and federal and local officials said there was no evidence to support a claim of responsibility issued Sunday by a Pakistani
Taliban group that has a reputation for making far-fetched attempts to take credit for attacks.

The police and F.B.I. officials are also investigating a separate tip received by a news organization, but Mr. Kelly said it had not turned up any suspects.
Investigators were reviewing surveillance footage that showed an unidentified man walking away from West 45th Street, where the Nissan Pathfinder had been parked. The police said the man was a “person of interest.” The man was seen in Shubert Alley, which runs between 44th and 45th Streets, looking furtively over his shoulder and removing a dark shirt, revealing a red one underneath, officials said. The man then stuffed the dark shirt into a bag, officials said.
“We just felt that person warranted an interview,” Mr. Kelly said. “It could be perfectly innocent.”
Asked if he considered the failed bombing the work of terrorists, Mr. Kelly said: “A terrorist act doesn’t necessarily have to be conducted by an organization. An individual can do it on their own.”

All Broadway shows ran as scheduled on Sunday.
Two street vendors had flagged down a mounted police officer after they noticed smoke coming from the Pathfinder, which had been parked haphazardly at the curb with its engine running and its flashers on. The area was cleared so the police could examine the vehicle, which was first seen on video surveillance cameras at 6:28 p.m., heading west on West 45th Street.

The Pathfinder was brought to a
forensics center in Jamaica, Queens, where investigators were scouring it for DNA evidence and hairs, fibers and fingerprints. No fingerprints had been found as of Sunday night, officials said.
