McCain: ‘Insulting’ for State Department to ‘Compare’ Arizona Illegal Immigration Law to China’s Human Rights ‘Abuses’
Good for McCain for calling out the Obama State Dept for seeking a moral equivalency between the U.S. and China. We don’t kill millions of our own people, we have forced sterilizations or abortions in our country. But, that’s the way Liberal elites think. It’s always blame America first.
From CNS News:
Senator John McCain (R-Ariz.) said it was “outrageous” for a top Obama administration State Department official to “compare” Arizona’s anti-illegal immigration law with Communist China’s “human rights abuses.”
He also told CNSNews.com that the official, who “did not read the law,” reflects “the liberal elite” that does not know the difference between “a state acting in a constitutional fashion and a regime that’s responsible for the deaths of millions of its citizens.”
Senators John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.) wrote a letter to Michael Posner, the assistant secretary of the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor at the State Department, a political appointee, demanding that he “retract and apologize” for telling officials of the Chinese regime that Arizona's anti-illegal immigration law is an example of a “troubling trend in our society.”
Posner had also said that Arizona’s new law is an indication of “discrimination or potential discrimination” in American society.
On Capitol Hill, McCain told CNSNews.com, “Well, we wrote the letter to Mr. Posner -- who I understand, of course, has not read the law -- that it’s outrageous to compare a law that may be somewhat controversial but is certainly not unconstitutional, with the human rights abuses that the Chinese have been inflicting on the Chinese people, including Tibet including parts of China that there continues to be oppression and repression.”
