HAM ON THE LAM: PIG SENTENCED TO FARM TIME

STEVE
MAGUIRE
HIS ham went out on the lam, but after being rustled by cops the Vietnamese pot bellied pig has been put out to pasture - much to the chagrin on his owner.
Brian Maguire is furious that officials won't let his pet "Steve" live with him again, after it escaped from his backyard. But cops in Ridley Township, PA, say they've sent his 10-week-old pet to a farm because local laws state that residents can't keep farm animals. However, Maguire says he bought the mini pig in a pet store for $424, plus tax.

He said: “The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture states that if you paid tax on this animal when you buy him, he’s a pet. They only tax pets; they don’t tax livestock or farm animals."
Maguire was inundated with responses after he created a Facebook page called "Where's Steve? Give him back Ridley," which attracted 2,000 followers in a matter of days.
Many of them emailed and called the Ridley Township police
Maguire, a 24-year-old truck mechanic, says his domesticated pet can't forage for food.
Township Commissioner Michael McCrea says he's not commenting on the case.
