STEVEN LAKE was by anyone's measure a first-class dick. He kept a holstered 9mm handgun on his bedpost. There's much more. He once threatened to take a knife and mutilate his wife Amy in a way "you wouldn't do to farm animals."
On Monday, this very nasty man unraveled in Dexter, Maine where he shot to death his wife and two children. Then the coward blew his brains out. The 37-year-old creep used a shotgun to kill Amy, 38, and their children" Monica, 12, and Coty, 13. Lake was due to go to trial next month for threatening his family last summer. He held them hostage as he waved his handgun. Amy told cops she was terrified of her moronic husband and that he would kill her, the children and anyone else.
DA Christopher Almy said: "He started about how he might get only partially through his list before they catch him," Almy said, reading from notes on the case. "He also told Amy, `If I have to I'll use a knife and I'll do things to you you wouldn't do to farm animals."
His mouthpiece was shocked, shocked: "Steve loved his children very much and it's a tragic, tragic situation." MORE ON MAINE MASSACRE

HER FAMILY ASKS: 'HOW DO WE FORGIVE JULI McCRERY?'

On Saturday, a funeral service was held for the little boy in Texas. More than 100 people gathered to pay tribute to the child who was described as loving reading and playing the guitar.
Her mother LuRae McCrery said: "How do we forgive ... (her) for committing this unspeakable act? I don’t know. I know in my heart that Juli didn’t do this out of malice or anger. She was a good mother. ... She did the best she could with what she had. On that fateful day something snapped, and I pray that she gets all the help she needs."
McCrery's defence team will likely argue that she was suffering diminished mental capacity and that her aim was a twisted double bill of death. Camden last attended kindergarten May 6, but hadn't been reported missing because his mom continued calling to say he was sick. Camden wasn’t identified until four days after his body was discovered, when a family friend in Irving called authorities in Maine after seeing a computer-generated photo distributed nationwide.

DEAD BOY WOULD TELL JULI McCRERY "IT'S OK, MOMMY'
IN AN astonishing leap, accused child killer Juli McCrery's ex-boyfriend claims the woman's dead son would have forgiven her. McCrery, 42, from Irving, Texas, was arrested last week and charged with murdering her 6-year-old boy, Camden Hughes and then dumping his lifeless body on a remote road in Maine. Now, friends and family are trying to make sense of the terrible tragedy.
Ex beau Robert Miller said: “He would tell her, ‘It’s OK, Mommy.' He loved her just as much as she loved him. I was the only dad Camden ever knew."
McCrery is being held without bail in New Hampshire and others who
knew her painted a picture of a woman who was "deeply troubled." Miller's mom Shirley, a longtime friend of McCrery is struggling with what would compel McCrery to kill.
She said: “I’m not mad at her because I know she wasn’t in a right frame of mind when she did that. She wasn’t the type of person to do that. That’s why it’s so hard to believe.”

KILLER MOM JULI McCRERY 'HAD A LOT OF PROBLEMS'
IN A MASSIVE statement of the obvious, an ex-boyfriend of accused killer mom Julie McCrery said she "had a lot of problems." McCrery, 42, is charged with murdering her 6-year-old son Camden Hughes and dumping his body on a remote road in rural Maine. She has a history of suicide tries, drugs, prostitution arrests and a generally woeful life.
McCrery was arraigned in Portsmouth, N.H. Thursday on second-degree murder charges. She sobbed throughout court proceedings.
According to the Boston Herald: The charges marked the horrific end to the life of a boy born to a deeply troubled woman. Murphy said his client tried to kill herself at least once while traveling in New England and “several times” in 2004.
“Juli had a lot of problems,” said McCrery’s former boyfriend in Irving, Robert Miller. “We always thought maybe she should be on medication.”
She told cops when she was busted in Massachusetts that she wanted to "join" her son in heaven. Originally for California, she has lived in Texas for the past 25 years most recently in Irving.
Her love life was also a sordid mess.

CAMDEN PIERCE HUGHES |

Police sources say Juli McCrery, of Irving, Texas, was the one taken into custody and that the boy is her son, Camden Pierce Hughes.
McCrery also has an older son, Ian McCrery, from a marriage that ended in 2003. Ian McCrery's father, Paul McCrery, told the Fort Worth (Texas) Business Press Wednesday

He said: "He was a very happy boy. It's a terrible thing that happened, but I don't know anything about it." So far, all cops are saying is that a woman is being questioned by detectives. She is in custody but has not been charged. Earlier Wednesday morning Staties received a tip about the navy blue Toyota Tacoma and that led to the mystery woman. A witness had seen a similar truck leaving the scene where the boy was discovered Saturday. So far, the boy has NOT been officially identified.
He is between 4 and 6 with blonde hair and likely died about two hours before he was found. However, they have not said how he died and there is no missing persons report that matches his description. Now, local detectives have called in help.

KRISTA DITTMEYER'S MOM 'SHOCKED' BY DOUBLE LIFE
MURDERED Maine Mom Krista Dittmeyer's family are not only dealing with her heartbreaking slaying but also new revelations she was involved in the seedy drug underworld. According to the Boston Herald, the pretty slain 20-year-old's mother, Lanell Shackley, "trembled" after hearing of her darker side.
Friend Kathryn Pratt said: “I think it was just a shock to her. She had no idea. This is all a shock to her.”
Friend Kathryn Pratt said: “I think it was just a shock to her. She had no idea. This is all a shock to her.”
Pratt added that Shackley had never met Michael Petelis, the
28-year-old Ossipee, N.H., man who prosecutors said pledged to be Krista's “protector” while her boyfriend served time in jail on a drug rap. Instead, he set her up for murder in a botched dope heist, detectives believe. The pretty waitress was lured to his apartment then bashed in the head by henchman Anthony Papile. He then dumped her body and abandoned her Nissan with her 14-month-old daughter, Kyla in the back
Pratt also said that Shackley is “angry for what they did to her daughter... Absolutely, she didn’t deserve to die like this. No one does.” Papile, 28, of Ossipee, was charged with second-degree murder. Petelis and Ferguson were charged with one count of conspiracy to commit robbery.

Three men have been charged in the 20-year-old Portland waitresses murder two weeks ago. Her body was discovered in a pond at a ski resort less than 20 miles from her home. Anthony Papile, 28, is charged with second-degree murder while Trevor Ferguson, 23, and Michael Petelis, 28,
have each been charged with one count of conspiracy to commit robbery. According to court documents, it was Papile who hit the pretty mom in the head as she walked up the stairs to his apartment on April 22 – a day before her car was found idling with her baby girl inside at Cranmore Mountain Resort in Conway.

The criminal complaint says Papile caused Dittmeyer's death by "suffocating and/or drowning."
The arrests wrap up an intensive two-week investigation and manhunt that shocked the rural area of western Maine and eastern New Hampshire.
